Earlier this week, we sent an email that gave details and listed some
changes to the "Show & Tell" and the "Homebrew Contest" to be held at FDIM
2008. A number have asked for additional information and we give that
below.

First, what is the difference between "Show & Tell" and the "Homebrew
Contest"? The following defines the difference:

Homebrew Contest - You bring one of your latest projects and display
it. On Friday night, attendees will be able to vote for a winner in one of
six tentative categories.

Show & Tell" - You bring one of your latest projects and display it.
Your project will not be part of the voting in the Homebrew Contest.

Each Homebrew Contest entry must register between 6:30 PM to 8 PM on
Thursday or Friday night and will be given a card that lists the category
and item number, along with a description of the item and the call sign of
the owner. This card must be displayed with your entry.

There are six tentative categories. These are:

1. All Homebrew (Xcvr,Xmtr,Rcvr)
2. Modified Kit (Xcvr,Xmtr,Rcvr)
3. Station accessories (homebrew or modified kit)
4. Test Equipment (homebrew or modified kit)
5. Antennas
6. Best of show

There will be one winner in each category. Winners will be highlighted in a
future issue of the QRP Quarterly and also receive a prize. If you have an
item that doesn't quite fit the above lists, please bring it. We will be
creative and fit it in (hence calling the categories tentative).

Judging will be done between 8 PM and 10 PM on Friday night, so although you
can display your item on both Thursday and Friday nights, your entry must be
displayed Friday night to insure it is part of the voting. This year, the
judges will be the attendees to the Vendor night on Friday. Each will be
given a ballot that must be submitted by 10:00 PM on Friday.

Winners will be announced at the awards banquet on Saturday, May 17.

So finish off those projects and bring them along. Even if you do not enter
the Homebrew Contest, attendees will appreciate and learn from your work at
the Show & Tell.
