I have never used the OHR 500 so I guess I am biased towards the K1. I use my K1 outside in the garden gazebo in the summer but it is a fine rig for the bench. It is a bit more money because I have the ATU in it and the RIT is very nice and also the LCD display is very nice to look at. May want the backlighting for the display.
Only drawback I see is not having 80 and 40 meters on the 4 band unit.
Pretty much up to the individual as to what money you have to spend and what features are really desired.
If I had only one choice I would go for the K2 but then again a bit more money.
Did you check out the KX1? I enjoy using it also but a tad small for the bench but also has many nice features.
