After much frustration and several attempts to solve the problem, I decided to check the parts and so far found the resistor at the emitter of Q3 was bad. Replaced it and now I hear AM broadcasting, but still can't hear the osc. in my ft101ee. At least we are getting somewhere....do I feel stupid? Yes, but it has taught a good lesson about checking the parts before breadboarding.
