Hi Q'ers,
Let me introduce myself Im Berne and a new ham, I have been monitoring SW for 10years and I look forward to the challanges of broadcasing in the future. The hobby is a great pastime, great people I see the learning curve goes way way up!
Just got my ticket ( call in post ),I have a halfwave G5 with 3w set on my Icom718, what do you think of this power setting to begin with and when should I raise or lower it?
Im in Ireland, what will 3w get me as far as distance is concerned? Can I work those I can receive at present, ie Eastern Europe and USA prop permitting at night?

Im wondering about who Ill fair in a pileup...Im a better to avoid pileups and isolate myself on a given freq and gauge from there on what pops up?
Any obvious advice welcome for a newbie at this stage.
