Ray W5XE mentioned Rod Newkirk and this is a key point about QST. Mr. Newkirk could (can? not sure if he is still active) write. Add to the list Dave Newkirk, Doug DeMaw etc. Comparing today's QST to QST in the mid 70s when I was first licensed or even up to the early 90s is like comparing People magazine to Harper's or the New Yorker.

I support the ARRL. I've been a member since first licensed. I am considering life membership and might even take the plunge if membership could be de-coupled from the waste of paper that QST has become. Each month I can blow through QST and CQ in a total of about 20 minutes before it hits the stack on the shelf waiting for recycle bin.
