I would like to see some discussions on the development of a small QRP transceiver that uses only a single NE602 or NE612 IC. Could we use a small crystal earphone similiar to what would be used in a crystal radio? The receiver would be crystal controlled direct conversion with some provision to offset during transmit. Maybe a small pi-network off pin 4 or pin 5 to couple to the antenna. Maybe a small matching transformer to couple to the earphone. Use of a single 9 volt battery. What do others think of this idea? I would call this transceiver the FLEA, able to jump RF vast distances with minimum power.
