Subject:  Interesting problem with 80 meter antenna

I recently decided to try 80 meters using my 40 meter loop. I tied the two sides of the 300 ohm feed line together and fed it as an end fed with a simple L match. The band was full of strong broadcast signals every 10 khz. I disconnected one side of the feed line and all of the broadcast signals went away leaving only the cw stations.

Does anyone have any idea what was going on? My loop is a horizontal full wave on 40 fed with 50 feet of 300 window line.
