K5DKZ's blog says (and I agree with him completely) The best and most complete source of information on shunt feeding a tower is the ON4UN’s book, Low Band DXing. It contains a wealth of information, several shunt feed matching methods, and verifies that a vertical needs to be at least an electrical quarter wave in length at the lowest frequency being used.

For the matching cap you're going to want either a vaccuum variable, a big ole bread slicer variable cap or a box full of doorknob caps - some real high voltage ratings. Even at 100 watts there are some tremendous voltages created at the feed point.
