With that inspiration, I thought I would "dust off" my 6-turn 160m indoor loop for the 160m QRP Top Band sprint. I spent a little over an hour playing in the contest. Used the K2 at 5 Watts feeding the loop, which was sitting in the middle of my very messy 2nd floor shack surrounded by metal bookshelves and test equipment racks. I was absolutely delighted to work four stations, in four states. W3TS deserves an award for patience, sticking with me for at least 10 minutes trying to squeeze my ARCI # out of the ether (he finally got it, but I don't think he was sure.). I was just about to turn off the rig when I rotated the loop and Paul KD2MX came booming in - he got me on the first call, and didn't even need a repeat. (Thanks more to his 650 ft loop than to my loop !) As with watching Jim VE3KQN's indoor loop success last weekend, I couldn't help but giggle with each QSO ! ![]() |
