One of the ways we tested our solder joints was to x-ray the circuit board and components. This was done during the development stage to check solderin and assembly procedure.

The airport machines are less powerfull. The only thing to worry about would be if you had a film camera with you also. The x-rays could fog the film some.

I have been asked to turn on the radio to prove it was functional but other than that had no problems.
