You might be interested to know that another pilot did something very similar. He installed an SG-2020 specifically for an over-ocean ferry flight. I do not remember the type of antenna coupler that he used, but I believe that it was one of the SGC models.

I believe that he decided on the SG-2020 because of the RF output power (20+) Watts, the VOGAD speech processor (makes it play more like a 100W radio), and the ADSP2 noise reduction unit.

He reported very good operation with many comments of "good audio" from ATC.
