I played out about 225 feet of wire 9could have done it with less if necessary. The end near my home is about 15 feet from the surface, the middle about 16 feet high and the end about 10 feet. To boot, we live a rather deep valley. one side of our property is bordered by a steep rock cliff and the otehr said (across a creek and roadway, is a high ridge. My antenna runs roughly NNE and NNW. Using my HW-9 and a home brew tuner I have worked several DX stations, including Slovenia and Slovakia while running 3 watts. I do know for a fact that Attic dipoles do and will work, but consider putting up an outside "stealth" antenna. We hve no antenna restrictions what-so-ever, we just suffer from lack of funds to put up a more elaborate system. I have used my Random wire on 80, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 and it loads well on most all bands. With teh current sunspot cycle i do best on 80 to 20 with the occasional opening on 17 and 15. I use 10 for some local communication. Good DXing, Tom, KB3LFC Link: NAQCC |
