After much discussion and planning, QRP ARCI has now made arrangements with Bill Kelsey of Kanga to accept credit card payments for QRP ARCI memberships. The first step will be a test phase for DX and Canadian members only. After we make sure that all the minor bugs are smoothed out, it is likely that the process will be extended to all members. The process starts with using the internet to access the QRP ARCI home page at http://www.qrparci.org After the home page opens, you click on "join/renew" to go to the application form and instructions. There is a section marked "DX Credit Card Window" and by clicking on that section, you will be shown the new credit card application form. Fill that form out and your credit card will be charged. VISA and MasterCard are the only cards being accepted for now.
This is not a "secure" program with the necessary encryption. We have been assured that the risk involved is extremely minimal, but the risk is with the member. For those who find that risk unacceptable, at the home page there is also a set of instructions where you can email or telephone Bill, give him your information, and your membership will be updated and your credit card charged.
Because of the different currencies around the world and the difficulty the banking system has in handling all of them, DX memberships have always been a bit of a problem, both for the members and for the club. We hope that this step will now make it much easier for our DX fellow enthusiasts to join, renew, and enjoy the benefits of QRP ARCI membership.
