Look under receivers and the Mitch Lee at this web site. This technique could be applied to other receivers and IF frequencies.

One could also pull this same trick in the RF amplifier stage of a simple receiver. The IF can used will only go up to 2 MHz, but one could use a FM IF CAN. Simple, low cost and effective. 50 to 20 HZ without a audio filter.

Anyway I think it is neat and something we qrp experimenters should consider.
