It was an interesting morning here in Arkansas. Turned on 21.060mHz at 17:56z and caught John, KU4AF/QRP CQ'ing from NY.
My 2 ele quad was pointed away but he & his K2 still heard me on my first call. He said he had a loop antenna.
I was running 45mW to start, he gave me a 539, & I gave him a 579. On his 2nd turn I moved my quad at him and was ready to ask if I could reduce power. He said ok, and away we go!My QRP+ has a small rubber thing pressed over the RF power control and helps me get a grip. As always I have my WM-2 QRP wattmeter inline.
John & I got down to 7 then 3mW and he repeated my power and sent me an 429 for 7mW and 329 for 3mW.
Then John took his K2 down to 100mW and he got a 339 from me.
2X QRP Limbo !!
Also on frequency was Joel KE1LA at 18:16z and he gave me a 339 at 7mW from ME! That lowers my WASTP even more!
What ears! What conditions! What a hobby!
My best power for ME with a QSL card returned, was also Joel @ 60mW. So yes, that was very helpfull Joel, thank you!
Next at 20:07z comes John K1JD & ANOTHER K2! Ok, I'm getting the message folks! (I've spoken to Santa abt a K2 for KJ5TF)
So John and I are on 28.061mHz and he took me down to 15mW before some local QRN came in on him.
So, in just a little while this AM I had a blast, and lowered my WASTP for 3 states. NY, ME, & RI.
I will update my website mW WAS page this afternoon or by this evening. I cant wait to see my new total for 50 states!
