Try http://www.xmlog.com/ for a freeware logging program. I've been using it for a couple of years for everyday logging and it seems to work well. It's not a contest logger--doesn't do duping or anything like that--but you can import logs from contests if you spend a bit of time with formatting (it's not trivial, but it's not hard if you know QBasic).
