I'd guess that the birdie is a result of a harmonic of the VFO beating against a harmonic of the BFO crystal, this assuming that the OHR-100A is a single conversion design. Not sure what the cure may be, but mitigation could entail grounding the crystal case, ensuring that lead lengths are as short as possible or fiddling a bit with component positions. It'll probably be impossible to eliminate, but maybe it can be reduced significantly in amplitude. 72/73 Cal K4JSI |
