I usually focus on 40m because of the challenge -- and
going full bore on the high bands produces more QSL's
than I want to deal with since I'm in SD!At any rate, 1st night went well w. 30 Q's including
the usual Carrib stuff, and only 5 more the second
night.
But, to my surprise, there were 7 new ones in the 35:
FM5BH, J7OJ, J6DX, ZL6QH, FS5UQ, GI4KOW, and ZD8Z.
That brings my 40m total to 87DXCC. Condx weren't
the greatest. I only managed a few EU -- DL1MGB, TM6X,
9A1A, IR4X, CS6V, EA8ZS, and GI4KOW.
I like running my refurbished Argo 505 on 20/15 at 1w
just for kicks. Easy. BUT, as usual the BEST QSO's were the ones whose exchange ended in "5" -- QRP'rs!
First it was FY5KE on 15m, which led to an unsuccesful
QSY to 20m, but later on I heard him and we connected.
Then NP4Z on 15m. Boy, those are the real payoffs!
The other night on 30m after 5V7C cashed in his chips,
I heard a "usual" sounding sig from PAC -- it was
ZK3HC running 5w to a dipole on Tokelau! Boy, that
was more thrilling than working 5V7C tonight! He got
all excited as well! 30m dipoles and 5w going half-
way around (almost) the world! Now, that is what it's
all about.
