Using an indoor dipole I heard almost nothing. Hanging the "hot end" of the antenna out the window helped a little but I gave up operation after 2 qso. I assume that your building is constructed of something other than wood and that your problem is the proximity of the antenna to your building. With your new vertical mounted perpendicular to the building you may have chance.
