You are entitled to your opinion, although I don't think "95% fewer posts" is anywhere near the actual drop and would be hard to back up with actual numbers. As for it effectively killing the list, you have to be kidding. It was the pre-moderation behavior that effectively killed it! A lot of people unsubscribed in disgust over what it had become, and were quite willing to let the entire list know it.

All the wildly off topic posts (were you subscribed when the infamous ear wax post appeared?), spats, flame wars, etc were hardly in keeping with the purpose of QRP-L. It was started up as a technical list, and now it's back to that again. (OK, that was the original purpose but it's been technical plus operational for years. But it was intended to be a QRP list in any case, and now it is, once again. The wildly off topic postings, flame wars, personal attacks, etc, served no useful purpose.)

You might want to check out the Elecraft list, http://www.elecraft.com/. Although it's aimed at a specific product line, much of the line consists of QRP radios and many of the topics are of potentially general interest even if you don't own an Elecraft.

There is also the HFPack group, http://www.hfpack.com. While not specifically QRP, their interest is portable HF operation, something that is of interest to QRPers. (And many of their radios are QRP.)

Back to product specific groups, there's the Rock Mite group on Yahoo (see below for Yahoo details).

Finally, there's the GQRP list on Yahoo.com. Note--you have to sign up for Yahoo (free) to subscribe to any of their groups. When you do, be sure to carefully edit your account preferences. They have a set of e-mail options, as in types of advertising e-mail that you can receive, and the default value is "Yes" to all of them. The technical term is "Spam City" :-) Be sure to reset them all to No unless you actually are interested in some of the mailings.

I fully agree that the loss of near real time postings is a distinct bummer, but it's a price one has to pay because of the actions of a few. If everyone (meaning EVERYONE) on the list were to exhibit mature, responsible, civilized behavior it would not be necessary. But it sure loses something when you sometimes have to wait quite a number of hours for new postings to appear.

PS--I'm not positive, but I believe all of these lists have the option of real time mailings or daily digests. I know I get the HFPack in digest form, although I take the others real time. And most or all have archives so you can read all the old traffic.
