I would guess if you get the dipole
up to 40 ft. you will have a chance for
more dx but may actually cut your sig.
in "close" and on 40m qrp that may mean you
work a lot less stations.
My two cents and you don't know till you
try. :-)

PS. whenever I work guys on verticals there's
more qsb on there sigs than the horz. guys.
