Hello this is my first post.

I would like to make a VCO that tunes smoothly through 14 to 42 Mhz that has minimal drift. I would like to use a varicap as a replacement for a standard variable capacitor.

I have read most W1FB arrl publications and am open to more ideas.
The application mixes upward to 2 meter with a crystal possibly using an NE602. I am just looking for a good vco design and not modulation or amplification at this point. Smooth and no drift using a varicap. This is to be used with a bench power supply and the output 25 mW FM.

I am just too stubborn to do this digitally. I just like the feel of a big tuning dial like the old tube units had the look and feel of an HF rig on 2 meter just for fun and another radio tool. I prefer to tune rather than click or program or set thumbwheel switches. I am not sure if a PLL will tune all the way from 14 to 42 Mhz and I hope it is clear I am trying to mix this with 118Mhz crystal oscillator and prefer to tune like days past.
