I have the same problem. I have isolated it to the mike element. The various RS mike replacement elements are not the same type and don't work as a replacement. I suspect they are the wrong impedance, because I get very little audio or a squeal. I have patched in typical RS CB mikes and they work fine, the problem is finding a 6 pin connector to make an adapter from my five pin CB mikes. I din't want to cannibalize the original mike. My RS CB mikes have a larger mike element and won't fit in the original mike's case.
How have you done in getting it fixed?
