The kits that you are looking at will be great fun to build, but will also be a great challenge to operate. I started with simple kits myself, but the frustration factor with the simplest kits was far too great because I hadn't bulit up my operating skills. My first fun and successful kit was the 38 Special, but I would recommend either a Wilderness SST or the K1 for a first kit, since these will be more operator friendly. Although QRP is any mode, CW and PSK are the most efficient. If CW scares you, I would still recommend you give it a try for the majority of your operating to begin with. Even at 5 wpm there are plenty of friends to be made in the CW bands.
