I'd like to add some thoughts - Beginning with a simple transmitter and using your "other" receiver is a good idea, as was stated. But additionally, there is a work-around for those who aren't comfortable designing the clever QSK or solid-state TR switches. Just use a manual coaxial switch. Been there done that, and it works. Beginners like to keep it simple, and there's nothing simpler than that. Fears of overloading the front end of the receiver are mostly unfounded, due to the low power levels involved. Give it a try... Also, I thought the presentation by Adrian, W0RSP, was on target with the notion that most QRO ops already (obviously?) have all the equipment they need to try QRP. The issue is one of mindset. For me, QRP is my way of recapturing the thrill of my first novice station, when all QSO's seemed entirely miraculous. I'd love to do a presntation next year on the subject of "The Psychology of QRP."
