I learned the Morse code as a Boy Scout over 50 years ago and I still can't figure out how you can send and receive Morse code by tapping a pencil or as I recently heard, tapping out Morse with a hammer from inside the submarine. If you tapped just as you would a straight key, how could you tell a Y from a C for instance?
