Subject:  mountain top antenna ?????

Message Posted:

I am planing a few trips to the mountains of Va. to do some mountain toping with a qrp rig/817. Now being 60 years old I cant tote but so much weight up thouse hills. One is a 1000 ft.clime to a peak of about 4000 ft. and the other is about 2800 ft. at the top.
The question it what antenna to take up there? I have experimented with a bambo pole that is 21 feet high with a wire taped to it. I then fed it with open wire and a turners balanced out put. O.K. so here is the question, what is the best over all length of wire to use to get the best preformance on 21,18,14meg.hz.
THANK YOU DAVE EARNEST
