But compared to the RH40, it's a much easier build. Not that Dave's manual isn't wonderful, but the radio is very tightly packed. The K1, on the other hand, while imposing, is much more open. If you have a little patience, I think it would be hard not to get this one right the first time. (The link below is to the NC-20, pretty much the same radio as the RH40. The picture below is a K1 - more pix on my site but I can't put two links here! It's not as obvious from the top, but on the K1, pretty much all the components are laying down, where on the NC20 they are standing up. The K1 approach places all the places you need to solder a lot farther apart on the other side of the board. The NC20/RHR40 isn't a difficult build, but it does take somewhat more skill with the slobbering iron.) ![]() |
