Unless you are in outer slobbovia somewhere, I'm sure there are dozens of hams within an easy drive that have handfuls of those things in the junkbox. They are as common as sand - K8IQY calls them the cockroach of transistors.

But in case you really can't find one, almost any small signal NPN will do. The 2N2222 is about as "un-special" a transistor as you can find. If all you have is RS, go down there and get the cheapest NPN they have.
