Everything seems fine except the output of the crystal oscillator is distorted. The top of the sine wave looks good but the bottom looks clipped. This seems to put excessive harmonics in the output of the next stage (14 MHz is only about 1.5 dB down). I have rebuilt the circuit on a piece of copper board to see if it was my circuit board or components. It looked the same. So I have been reading some of Doug DeMaw's QRP books about oscillators and have tried changing the value of the collector feedback capacitor and tried adding one from the base to ground too. It seems to clean up when I put my fingers from the base to ground but I can't find a capacitor that works. Would you by any chance have any suggestions? I didn't think this would be too hard but haven't figured it out. Thanks, George |
