This weekend I've enjoyed attending Ham Fair 2001,
the biggest
hamfest on the Japanese calendar. There were many
of QRP projects (and products) on display.

I think the wildest thing I saw was JA1IXI conducting
a QSO with his "self-powered" Firefly-II transmitter.
Pumping the straight key to send Morse, also moves
a plunger attached to the key knob up and down to
run a tiny generator to power the transmitter. The crowd
standing around laughing almost drowned out the CW.

Diamond showed a new 5 band loaded vertical targeted
at the FT-817 market. Radix also introduced a new
portable V antenna.

6 meter QRP, and in particular 6 meter AM activity is
a lot more lively here than I was used to in the US.

I've put part of my photo album online.
