Jim,

I haven't had any experience with those two verticals. However, for the past nine years I've used the Cushcraft R7 vertical with fairly good success. With 100 watts or less (including MANY QRP) I've managed to work over 240 countries with it alone. Obviously, it's not like my old Yagi of years past, but it's been a great performer for me. It's not made anymore, but I would assume the R8 is similar and may would be worth exploring.
