I followed, where possible, the Elmer 101 course, and found it very helpful. The transmitter works fine into a dummy load. However I think I have a problem with the receiver. The volume of received signals is not very loud. I don't believe the problem is in the audio section, because the sidetone has good volume. I'm suspecting the problem is in the stages preceeding the audio stage. I've checked my construction to the schematic many, many times and all is OK. I've substituted new parts in place of those I originally used. I put in new NE612s, etc. And, the volume of received signals remains low. According to the article in QRP power, the authors had to turn down the gain control for strong signals...if I turned down my gain control I wouldn't hear anything. I also bypassed the RF gain control and bypassed the transmitter's antenna input...still the same problem. Has anyone experienced this problem? By the way...the trimmer capacator does provide a peak. I'd really appreciate some advice. The solution is probably staring me in the face, I just can't find it! Gil - WB3ESR |
