Aaaargghh!!Preparations--
Caught a heck of a cold, so I really *felt* like the living dead.
Found one end of my Zepp down, put that back up.
Did the keying and XIT (VXO) mods to my TT-2
Contest:
40 meters was worse than a horror movie. Also, My XIT mod didn't actually work. I went down from 7043 to 7040, but the adjustment would only move me by about 100 Hz. Now I had to QSY by powering down the rig and unsoldering/resoldering the mod to toggle between 7043 and 7040.
In about two and a half hours, I managed 3 TT-2 QSOs. Contesting on crystal control is *tough*. Then I went to the main rig. I had the mistaken idea that I needed only 6 QSOs to qualify for a certificate, so I made 4 more QSOs only. Oops.
High points were working Elvis twice--the young rock 'n roll Elvis and the old, gaudy Vegas Elvis. Also enjoyed working Jim, father of the 2N2/40. Good weak signal/noisy band work by all I QSOed. No missed exchanges.
It's a great contest. 72 until next year,
