Yes, those are real losses to us experimenters and builders. But, (in a trip to the past) I built a double-balanced mixer with toroids and diodes this week, and it performed beautifully. With enuf drive, insertion loss is not noticeable and rejection is outstanding. But, you're right, soon we'll be back to tube mixers. 73 -Jerry
