I've noted in the past couple years that a lot of my favorite IC's for homebrewing have been discontinued by their manufacturers. When Harris spun off their IC line, they discontinued the CA3028 mixer (which they had acquired from RCA). Last year, National discontinued the LM13600 transconductance amp and LM3900 op-amp. I just found out that National has discontinued the LM1496 double-balanced mixer (though Motorola and JRC still list it for the time being). This leaves the NE602/NE612 as the only Gilbert Cell mixer left out there. Shoot, fellows, its enough to make me go back to vacuum tubes.
