Subject:  Best type of wire for HF antennas ?

Message Posted:

I am considering some antenna experiments this weekend.
Probably a dipole, an inverted V and a G5RV. For 20m QRP, 5 - 10 W.

Interested to know what type of wire is best. I suspect that the lowest practical copper wire (10swg or 12 swg) is the answer, or perhaps a good flexi weave ? Will I get SIGNIFICANT losses if I were to use say 20 swg wire ? or say 1mm stranded speaker cable ? Quality copper wire is jolly expensive !
