Hi all,

I built my first kit, the SMK-1. It all seems to work well, however there is a fairly loud hum present in receive. Is this normal? When I turn the attenuator up I can hear signals, but that hum is still present. This is my first HF/QRP rig (I test for my general in a couple of weeks) so I'm just not sure whether this is correct or not.

Also, I noticed there is a TON of traffic on the freq of this little radio. How in the world do you guys pull a signal out of that?
