Never operate your radio in direct sunlight." It seems to me if they realized the fact that black absorbs heat, they would have painted it a lighter color. After operating portable, using my hat to shade the rig, I decided my bald head needed the shade even more. A trip to the hardware store where I purchased a spray can of Krylon cream satan finish, solved the problem. I think it looks great too.
