Gentlemen:
I am a new member to QRP ARCI, as my number of 10449
will show. I have have been back on the air since
November of 93, having been off since 1955, when my
Novice ticket expired. I have worked many QRP stations, and don't know why
I didn't realize how much fun it could be. But, I
started working my ole Navy buddy, Joe, W8RIK and he
was always using QRP. So, I thought why not try it.
I am not what you could call a "Purist" or traditional
as my gear is an FT1000D cut back to 4 or 5 watts. But
let me tell you, I have worked, for example, California
many times using 90 watts to 100 watts receiving good
reports (all CW by the way), but when I worked K6III
using 5 watts and he gave me a 559, it WAS a thrill.
I have been at it since April this year and having a
ball. 27 States confirmed and going strong, also
6 countries. To work WAS QRP will be a bigger thrill
than doing with high power. If you hear me on, give
me a call. I work all bands, CW.
73 to all
