Several folks (Paul/W8KC and Jim/AD4J) and have responded with the suggestion for NIMH rechargeable batteries. I may give them a try. Thanks.

I have COMPLETELY converted to NiMH batteries for EVERY AA and AAA device
I own. Pagers, FRS radios, 2M HT, digital camera, TV remotes.. etc.
Have not bought a single duracell for over a year.
