Would it make sense to do something with a tape recorder and tapes for each contest? If you left some "blank" space between each contact, then the CUE function could be used to count to the correct QSO. If it's CW simply turn it on during the contact and off otherwise with a time stamp inserte dint here somehere.

Just a thought. My good friend George KC4WHZ has what you have but he doesn't work contests.
